    1. If you read my review of the first book (chronologically) in this series, Loving the Norseman, you will see that I was extremely impressed with the author, her writing and story-telling skills, her richly drawn characters, and her excellent use of history. As a result, I was really looking forward to reading this book, which immediately follows upon Loving the Norseman.Drew, the hero, is a knight and courtier for King David of Scotland. David has been locked up in the Tower of London for almost [...]

    2. Another underwhelming title, another impressive tale by Kris Tualla. She's on a roll now!Eryndal Smythe, former housekeeper of the Bell family's Castleton estate in the borderlands between Scotland and England, has assumed leadership of the estate in place of her underage charge, William Bell, in the disastrous wake of the Black Death. She's just made a scandalous, even revolutionary offer to the tenants of the estate—a sort of 14th century rent-to-own deal—in exchange for the title of Ladys [...]

    3. Tualla sends the reader on another wild ride of romance, intrigue and action. Drew and Eryn meet and are attracted to each other almost instantly, but Eryn has secrets while Drew has power, bringing with them the roadblocks to a life of happiness. Tualla does a great job of providing realistic obstacles for her characters to overcome. It is refreshing to have the main characters declare their obvious love and not hide behind self-doubt or unrealistic blindness to the other’s feelings. There ar [...]

    4. 5***** A great historical romance. The heroine has taken charge of an estate after all the entitled adults have died. Only the young son is left so she has to protect him then along comes the kings knight looking to raise ransom money from all the nobles. The lies start to pile up and things get very complicated. An adventurous love story just how I like them. Second story in a series but can be read as a stand alone.

    5. I don't read a lot of romance novels, and I didn't enjoy the explicit parts of this novel, but I was pleasantly surprised. It had romance, yes, but it also had plenty of adventure, politics, and moral dilemmas. I loved the historical details and the characters' back stories. The writing was really solid, and the plot kept me interested. Though it's not really my genre, I'd read more.

    6. The fifth book in the Hansen series. While it doesn't really tie into the first three books it was interesting to see how she connected Grier and Rydar from "Loving the Norseman" to Andrew and Eryn in this one.Overall it was an enjoyable story and I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

    7. Another wonderful story!!!! I really am so happy to have found this series. I know now that I am hopelessly reading the series out of order, but I am looking forward to reading another one soon.

    8. Great historical romance, wonderful setting, a delicious hero, a strong heroine, a well written book. What more can a reader ask for? I absolutely loved it.
