    1. Tualla's storytelling skill is growing with each new installment. While the title is seriously underwhelming, everything else about this story is right on target. Norseman's setting is beautiful as well as bleak: the plague-ravaged northern coast of Scotland in the 1350s and, by proxy of our hero's memory, the failing Norse colony of Greenland. The aftermath of this catastrophe is harrowing, and while the survivors are doing their best to move on, Tualla depicts their struggles poignantly every [...]

    2. While I understand this is the fourth book in the series, it is actually the first chronologically. The series follows the Hansen family of Norway from the 14th Century through the mid 19th Century in the U.S. (at least that I am aware of). This is the fist book in the series that I have read, but I like to read chronologically, so it worked really well for me.The hero, Rydar Hansen, who has been living in Greenland, is sailing to his native Norway. His boat is caught in a storm, and he's injure [...]

    3. Rydar Martin Petter-Edvard Hansen, yes! A big, strapping norseman washes ashore in Scotland after a storm destroys his vessel as he travels from Greenland to his true home in Norway. His traveling companion does not survive and Rydar is severely injured.A petite Scottish healer, Grier MacInnes, finds the two travelers, prays over one then takes into her castle and nurses the cuts, bruises, and broken leg of the other, Rydar. Through his recovery he learns to speak Grier's language and is eventua [...]

    4. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. First off, I was intrigued by the setting. Hero having lived in Greenland and making his way back to his home in Norway, gets shipwrecked near the heroines home in Scotland. The sense of time and place came through wonderfully for me. As she heals him from his injuries, Grier and Rydar have to communicate without speaking the same language. That was so well done throughout this novel. The dialogue and how one picks up words here and there, it just very realistica [...]

    5. 4**** a good historical romance. The hero is a Norse sailor who is trying to get to Norway from Greenland. His boat goes down in a storm. The heroine is a Lady who has lost nearly eveything to the plague. She is a healer and sets his broken leg. It makes a change to read a romance where the characters have to struggle just for the basics of life. Well worth reading and I'm glad I have the follow up. I think I even learned a few words of Norwegian.

    6. The fourth book in the Hansen series and while it was enjoyable it just wasn't as good because it wasn't about Nicolas and Sydney. Instead there is now Grier and Rydar in the mid 1300s after the Black Plague has decimated Europe. It took them awhile to get their act together and uncross their wires because of Margoh's deceits but she got her just desserts in the end.

    7. I was very surprised that I enjoyed this book as much as I did. I don't usually read historical period books. The story was so good and the character's brought me into the story. I finished the book and decided to get Loving The Knight.

    8. I enjoyed the story, but the second half went on far too long. If he would have told her his true feelings or vice versa, it could have ended with a hundred less pages. Overall, however, it was a fun read.

    9. Good story, but the narrator on the audiobook was a very poor choice. If I decide to follow this author it will not be in audio format until someone else narrates.
