    1. Vexed by S.K. Whiteside is an interesting story. It's a new take on an old tale. It is a refreshing and intriguing read but it really could do with some work. Sadly there were more than a few bumps with this story - it lacked reading flow, there was a lack of punctuation, sentences didn't make sense, and the font and font size changed so often it gave me a migraine.Vexed has plenty of story potential, but it needs some help with the telling, a decent edit and perhaps even some restructuring beca [...]

    2. This cover roped me in long before I realised that the book covers one of my favourite subjects - ancient Egypt! As Set plans his evil take over he does not consider the love of a woman!I loved this short story! The world building leaves the reader tasting the dust of ancient Egypt and makes you feel the heat blanket you! This is a fast read with a plot that moves at breakneck spead and action that keeps you turning the pages faster than you knew a reading device could. The author managed to set up [...]

    3. Vexed is a short story written to introduce us to S.K. Whiteside's Guardians series. Eerily set up like a Cain and Abel, the book begins with two brothers, sons of the god Ra. Osiris becomes king and god of the Undead. His brother, Set, becomes jealous of what is given to Osiris; rulership, the throne, servants, etc and devises a way to kill him. By killing his human form and cutting it into pieces, Set is then able to hide away the pieces so that no one of their bloodline is ever able tofree Os [...]

    4. I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.I am fascinated by Egyptian gods and the history of Egypt in general, so when I was given the opportunity to read a fictionalised story containing Isis, Osiris and Set, I jumped at it!Isis is a very fascinating character. She is a goddess and an immortal. She has been kept as a prisoner by her brother-in-law, Set. She is understandably bitter and angry, and is out for revenge. She and the other gods al [...]

    5. This is a lovely read that kept me glued to my reader from the prologue to the last page. I have not read many myths of the gods and have to say the storytelling was for me surprisingly riveting. I found myself wanting to research more and find out how much was pure fiction and how much was based on the actual myths handed down over time. I love Isis, she was a wonderful character to get to know and I would never want to be on her bad side or the object of her vengeance. The world building was b [...]

    6. This book is definitely a different take on the gods and goddesses ancient Egypt. Felt it was quite an interesting mix of the paranormal and ancient mythology. I feel it flows along well and that it's very fast paced as it kept me turning the pages on my Kindle to find out what was happening next. Could probably read the book in about an hour. Was looking for a short read at the time and this story was recommended, can't say I was disappointed and look to read more from this author.

    7. I thought this book wasn't too bad. Though, I didn't care for the information dumps that the author tended to do. It would loose me. It was different in the fact that it was all about gods and goddesses. I think it has potential, if she could loose the information overloads.

    8. These needed a professional editor so badly it hurt to read.Could have been a good story. Read them as an anthology though. Glad it was free.
